Touchstone

An 8 x 60” time travel TV drama series.

TouchstoneDirt poor Rachel and rich kid Danny: two uni students who wouldn’t normally mix. But their lives become entwined when they discover that touching a certain spot on an old gravestone catapults them back in time.

When Danny finds himself in 1912 Birmingham, he prevents the death of a girl called Amy Parker at the hands of her abusive, syphilitic father. But once they return to the present, they discover that Rachel’s history has been wiped out. She was never born and her father doesn’t recognise her.

Throughout the series she emerges each time at a different point somewhere in the last 100 years, meeting her own ancestors and trying to find out how Amy Parker’s life erased her own; her investigation complicated by Danny’s inability to resist wooing Amy all over again whenever he meets her, whatever age she happens to be.

Touchstone explores a city’s dark past: a gritty world of real danger where every action has an unforeseen consequence that can ripple through generations.

An early draft of the Touchstone pilot was a finalist in the first Red Planet Prize competition.
